Now that the holiday parties have come and gone, it’s tempting to lounge around in leggings and your favorite T-shirt. After seeing this adorably stylish Fashionista, however, I couldn’t be more inspired to start off 2013 on a fashion-forward note!
Name: Maddie Savin
Major: English (Writing)
Year: Sophomore
CollegeFashionista: I love this ensemble! What are you wearing?
Maddie Savin: I am wearing dark blue skinny jeans with a white tank top blouse and a short, black blazer with white trim. I tucked my jeans into black leather boots with a little heel to give the whole outfit a more put-together look.
CF: Who is your ultimate style icon?
MS: My style icon is Audrey Hepburn. Aside from the red lipstick and winged eyeliner (which I wear often) I like to wear a lot of black. I think it is a sophisticated yet sexy look.
CF: What’s your favorite part about dressing during the winter season?
MS: I love dressing for winter because I think layering is the best! Seeing what different combinations can be created is fun and makes dressing up for school exciting. In addition, I love boots for winter. You can make almost any pants work with them.
CF: What’s your item of choice in your closet right now?
MS: In my closet right now, am loving my high-low dress. I think it’s the perfect combination of trendy and sophistication.
How To: Give your everyday winter jacket a break and dress up an outfit with a stylish, sophisticated blazer. For a more daring, trendier one, this is a great option; or, for a more classic choice, this is a quality investment. Riding boots are very much in style at the moment and a simple way to pull an outfit together, not to mention they will be in style for many seasons to come, so it’s important to invest in a timeless pair. Last but not least, pairing a feminine blouse with skinny jeans or leggings gives the outfit a more relaxed, fun look.
