The featured short of the day is the American Eagle Outfitters Lace Pocket Denim Shortie. I absolutely love the lace detailed pockets that just peep out of the bottom of the short. Simple yet trendy, these shorts are perfect for those just-returned-from-the beach evenings spent on spring break. Here, I chose to go with the simple and casual style but I wanted to emphasize that they can be worn multiple ways. As I splashed through the rain while wearing these, I could feel each incredibly refreshing drop of water every so slightly run down my leg.
I guess it could be part of being a good ‘ol country girl, but I love being in touch with nature- feeling the rain on my thigh, the wind on my neck and the sun on my face. These shorts made me feel like just that again. They are reminiscent of my home in Southern Indiana where my dogs and I would race each other on my bicycle. Honestly, the first thing that these little beauties made me think of when I put them on was a walking through the wheat fields near my home on a warm summer evening and feel the fuzzy tails of the plants graze my legs and brush under my palms.
As you can see I’m not in a summery field in the photos but that is a testament to how versatile these shorts are. I paired my shorts with a vertically striped menswear inspired button up, very similar to the American Eagle Outfitters Striped Girlfriend Shirt. This ensemble can easily be paired with a rain coat and stylish rain boots for a nautically preppy look for rainy days. Are you looking to get some sun? Just leave the same shirt open and pair it and the shorts with a cute bikini, sunglasses and sandals. Trust me, you’ll get a lot of use out of these shorties.
