Picture this: a well-dressed boy walks into class, pulled together, casual, confident, wearing an acceptable pair of shoes, and then you catch a glance of his wrist. There it is, the clunky rubber sports watch. You inwardly cringe. A sports watch with normal class clothes? That’s like wearing gym shorts with a collared shirt; you just don’t.
I’m always secretly impressed when I see a guy incorporating a good watch into their outfit. It says two things about them: they know what they’re doing and they’ve finally surpassed boyhood. They now take a quick glance at their wrist for the time instead of whipping out their jailbroken iPhone with a cracked screen. How manly.
When I spotted this Fashionisto on campus, his watch was the first thing that caught my eye. It makes the outfit. It’s industrial, simplistic feel makes it the perfect statement piece for a simple outfit of jeans and a T-shirt while giving off a sense of maturity. To find a watch similar to this Fashionisto’s, try this one by Michael Kors. Just because every girl at Villanova has one of his watches doesn’t mean boys can’t either. For a more affordable option with a little more down to earth feel, check out this Timex watch. I would be lying if I said that I didn’t want this watch for myself. Finally, for a military-inspired feel that’s perfect for the weekends, try this watch by J.Crew and Timex. It doesn’t get much more classic than that. So to all of my Fashionistos out there, I think it’s time to man up and buy yourself a watch. Who knows, it might even score you some points with the ladies.
