STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Stripe Tease

Uncategorized

There is probably one key trend that looks poised at all times: stripes. It’s one of the most classic patterns and is showing up everywhere. Each season we see bit of a twist in how designers choose to use stripes in their creations — for this Fashionista, it is no different. She dons a narrow leg pant with a fitted striped tee and a classic brown belt to go with it. I love the deep autumn colors seen here; it all blends perfectly well. The rust stands out against the duller colors. What I also adore about this ensemble is the way she has kept her focus on the stripes by keeping the other elements subtle.

Stripes can do wonders. It can make you look smart as well as sexy; you just need to flaunt it the right way. Contrary to popular belief, I do not think stripes make you look heavier. It can do just the opposite: stripes can be used to accentuate your curves and define your waist, creating a strong silhouette. For a broader frame, keep the strip vertical and small whereas a petite woman can elongate her figure with a vertical stripe. Opt for a horizontal stripe for a curvy look. Stripe is certainly a bold trend so make sure you don’t go overboard with it. The ideal style solution for this stripe tease is to select one color stripe and build around the color with other subtle colors. Mixing striped patterns can turn out to be a disaster, so always flaunt one striped article at a time. It may be a striped skirt, knit top or any striped accessory from KENZO.

Experimenting with different bottoms is also a great way to make your look unconventional. Opt for high-waisted sailor pants from Zara for an old school or vintage look. To enhance your silhouette, keep your accessories minimal. A big dial watch from ALDO would go really well with it. Mix colors and infuse a little black or grey if you need to tone it down. Stripes will definitely keep you visible this season. So whether it’s vertical or horizontal, thick or thin, this season's trends stays inside the lines.
