All it takes is one day of nice weather for all the GW Fashionistas to whip their spring wardrobes out of hibernation and take them for a spin. On a day as beautiful as today I was bound to see fabulous fashion all over the city, but this Fashionista caught my eye soaking up the sun in style on her way to class!
Name: Danielle Clarke
Major: Dance & Sociology
Year: Freshman
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?
Danielle Clarke: I’m wearing a denim jacket from American Eagle Outfitters, shoes, rings and pants from Zara, a belt from H&M and a watch from Michael Kors.
CF: You’re used to living in an urban city, but how has your style changed from living in NYC to living in D.C.?
DC: Fashion in D.C. seems to be a lot more conservative, as opposed to New York City, where people go above and beyond to make fashion statements. My personal style has not changed much, with the exception of more layering outfits and additional accessories.
CF: What’s on your shopping list for spring 2013?
DC: This spring I’m looking for a lot more patterned pieces for my wardrobe. Also, a lot of companies are coming out with various kinds of short hair accessories that I want to try out this upcoming season!
How To: Denim jackets are the perfect way to transition your outerwear from winter to spring! Therefore a jacket, like these from Madewell and Piperlime, are perfect for style and coverage during these early spring days. A denim jacket complements almost any bottom, but make sure you’re not too matchy-matchy with your denims. During the day try your denim jacket with a pair of colored jeans, a loose white tank, a pair of Converse or TOMs and top it off with a gold or silver statement necklace to add that wow factor!
