ACCESSORIES REPORT: Stomp The Yard

Accessories Report

Remember when military boots were trudging the scene? It was only a couple of years ago–a pair of Dr. Martens was seen on every Fashionista or Fashionisto. A pair of black lace-up boots was a wardrobe must-have at the time. I am a boot lover, so I’m happy to say that militaristic boots are still a must-have today. Although the chunky and platform styles are out of range, the edgy boots are here to stay.

I spotted this Fashionista on campus on a quiet day. I immediately admired her black lace-up boots. It would have been easy to go for a pair of flats or sandals for a summer day, but I loved how she chose to wear the lace-up boots. Since a Fashionista’s personal style reflects her personality, this Fashionista was chic, but had an edgy vibe, too. I looked closer and realized that her pair of boots completed her ensemble in a various ways.

Her boots fit in with the monochromatic colour palette, which was a minimalistic choice. The classic black, white and grey–in-between–combination suits any occasion, such as a full day of college. She added a cream lace vest to complement the lace fringe at the bottom hem of her dress. This touch created a bohemian aesthetic that, again, worked well with her pair of boots.

This Fashionista’s pair of boots gave her outfit an edgier status. Her beauty look–rebel chic and edgy–is a current trend in many Fashionista’s wardrobes. An It-Girl you should find inspiration from is Lourdes Leon, Madonna’s daughter, who is a notable edgy Fashionista and boot lover, too. You can reinvent your ensemble just by wearing a pair of black boots. Try a pair of Steve Madden Madhouse booties to spice up your wardrobe. What is also great about this Fashionista’s outfit is that it can be worn to a music festival. Finish off this outfit with a pair of sunglasses, like this Fashionista’s pair, and you’ll be rocking at Coachella in no time! The black lace-up boots will be stomping the yard from campus grounds to music festivals.

Spotted: For more of a differential edge, Proenza Schouler dressed the models in open-toe booties on their spring 2013 runway. Try this chic and edgy look yourself!
