STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: The Future is Bright

Style Advice of the Week

Alexander McQueen once said, “It’s a new era in fashion- there are no rules. It’s all about the individual and personal style, high-end, low-end, classic labels and up- and-coming designers all together.” Feeling inspired yet? I challenge all of you Fashionistas and Fashionistos to embrace the words of this fashion great and try breaking your personal style rules slightly this week. Stepping out of your fashion comfort zone can be difficult, but your wardrobe will most definitely thank you for taking the risk. Unsure of where to start? Try injecting a little neon into one of your absolute favorite, classic, go-to outfits.

Dayglo brights have undoubtedly been a style star over the last year, invading every corner of the fashion market. Neon silk blouse? Bloomingdale’s has four options. Neon patent leather belt? J.Crew is practically giving them away with each purchase (you get the idea). Menswear and womenswear designers have embraced the bright trend alike, showing chunky cable knit sweaters at Gucci and printed neon cocktail dresses at Anna Sui.

This Fashionisto makes wearing touches of neon look effortlessly cool, rocking a pair of Cole Haan light gray suede oxfords with an electric lime green sole. He opts to let his shoes do all the talking, keeping the rest of his color palate neutral in gray chinos and a classic white button down. A buttery leather messenger bag and stacked modern rope bracelets complete the outfit, creating a stylish, classic look that can take him easily from the classroom to a job interview.
