STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Tough Stuff

Style Advice of the Week

With all of the Fashion Weeks around the world coming to a close, I, as well as many other dedicated Fashionista/os, will count the days until the next Fashion Week emerges. Until then, we are forced to live with the daily fashion of our peers, which can sometimes, especially on college campuses, become repetitive.

Thankfully, there are some who are dedicated enough to fashion to not repeat their fleece jackets every day, but instead experiment with other forms of outerwear in the winter months. This Fashionista is a great example! Rocking her tough leather jacket with black combat boots is a great way to fight through the last weeks of winter in style. She seamlessly pairs these two pieces with a lightweight tee and a long pearl necklace to give the outfit a sense of balance.

A leather jacket, much like the perfect pair of black heels, is definitely an investment piece. This is due of course to the price, but also to its timeless nature. If you are lucky, in the depths of your parents’ closets may lie a vintage gem of a leather jacket that is probably expertly broken in that you could integrate into your daily rotation.

If your parents are chronic closet cleansers, you may have less luck in this endeavor and should therefore try some of these options for scoping out the perfect leather jacket for you. This Fashionista’s leather jacket is from Buffalo Leather, but can be found at Macy’s. A similar silhouette is available here by Lot78 on Shopbop. If you are looking for an alternative to actual leather, Free People makes a gorgeous cream vegan leather jacket for a fraction of the price, so you will be saving some money and some cows!
