FASHION FROM ABROAD: Denim x Two

Fashion From Abroad

Denim is the unofficial fabric of the fall. It is easy to be dressed up or down, matches most everything in your closet and can even be worn with itself! Recently, denim-on-denim is becoming more and more socially acceptable, and not just as the slang term, “Canadian tuxedo.” Although this stigma was attached to the overuse of denim for many years, this is hopefully a thing of the past.

This Fashionista manages to pull off this trend flawlessly by simply treating the denim items as if they were different pieces composed of different fabrics. She also keeps a subtle air of cohesion by adding her canvas shoes that are slightly reminiscent of yet another shade of denim itself. This is the perfect casual fall outfit, ideal for a casual trip to an art gallery showing in London on a Thursday afternoon, which is where I happened to spot her!

If you are willing to attempt this very delicate trend, there are a few stipulations to consider when compiling your ensemble. First, it tends to improve the overall look if the washes on the denim pieces are different by at least a few shades. Second, if you are going for a more casual look, try to pair the denim ensemble with a statement bag or another accessory, like this Fashionista with her leather. I also think that maybe it is the pieces used in the outfit that make the difference. Although there are always exceptions, I would not advise a pair of jeans, chambray shirt and a jean jacket worn simultaneously. Other than that, have fun with it!!

If you are looking for a classic chambray shirt to kick-start your new denim wardrobe this fall, try this one from Tobi that also has some embroidered detailing, which is perfect for fall! If you are looking for something more conservative, try the holy grail of jeans, Levis Brand Jeans. This top has such a classic silhouette and a very casual wash. Denim on!
