Getting that perfectly straight hair can be the bane of existence for girls with curly hair, or even girls with straight hair. Yes, sometimes we wake up with weird kinks or a random curl. Luckily though, there are many easy ways to achieve beautifully straight hair without having to use an iron a la 1950.
This week’s Fashionista has the most perfect straight hair. It is straight but still light and flowy. For a look like this, it is essential to start with clean hair. This way, your hair won’t be weighed down with oils and dirt. If you have curly hair, start by blow drying your hair straight. If you have straight hair, you could either let it dry naturally or blow dry it. In any case, just put a little anti-frizz product in beforehand. Try an argan oil treatment that defrizzes and nourishes your hair at the same time.
Once your hair is totally dry, start with the straightening iron. The best options are from CHI, T-3 and ghd. These irons are pricey, but they are really good quality and will last forever. Of course, Conair and Revlon offer two great, lower priced options.
When straightening your hair, the best strategy is to divide and conquer. Separate your hair in half going around your skull, as if you were doing a half-up-half-down look. Clip or put the upper section of hair in a bun, so it is out of the way. Then, iron the lower part of your hair. Make sure to iron small sections, no more than an inch, otherwise you'll actually spend more time going back to fix it. Once your hair on the bottom is straight, pull or clip that back into a ponytail. Then, you can let the upper part of your hair down and straighten that.
Once the entire head has been flat-ironed, comb it out and check the top to see if you need to go back anywhere for a quick touch up. Add some finishing product to your hair and viola, you are ready to go.
