ACCESSORIES REPORT: Western Flair

Accessories Report

Howdy y'all! It’s Friday finally; another Friday from this summer gone. We’re counting down the weeks until the first day of school starts. The first day of school is always exciting for all of us. Seniors are thrilled to be getting a step closer to graduation. Sophomores and Juniors eagerly welcome the new kids to campus. Freshmen nervously enter into a new world, a new culture and a new fashion community. Every campus is different; each school has its own atmosphere, culture and its own fashion trends going on. That’s why we have CollegeFashionista.com. Every new freshman class adds a new dimension of uniqueness to the fashion community of TCU. As my last year approaches, I can’t help but realize how much change I’ve seen on this campus since the first day I was here. I remember how I curiously explored what to wear to class and what to not, how I came to realize how to still be myself but not stand out too much. There are many things for a Freshman to learn about a campus’ culture and one of the most important things is fashion cues.

Today, I’m going to talk about the typical Texas casual outfit. You will see this all around campus, at restaurants downtown or at movie theaters. The highlights are the denim shirt and the cowboy boots. Denim shirts, especially long sleeve, have long been known as typical western attire since it dates back to the western wear that cowboys wore to the rodeo or Confederate soldiers to war. What’s more fitting is that the versatile denim shirt is so in trend the season, you can find it almost anywhere and mix it with almost anything in your closet.

My next focus falls onto this Fashionista’s pair of cowboy boots. It's almost mandatory for anyone that lives in Texas to own at least one pair. They come in various style and decorations. The boots are super versatile and can be worn with almost anything (in Texas). You can easily see girls sporting their boots with sweaters and leggings to class or boys pairing their boots with sweatpants or khakis. These boots are especially warm in the winter and comfy in the summer. So there’s no question that the cowboy boot is one of the most versatile accessory out there for anyone to have. Add a pair of boots to mix your modern look up with a little western flair on campus this coming fall.
