ACCESSORIES REPORT: Feline Fever

Accessories Report

Animal prints are hotter than ever for the summer 2012 fashion season. Not only did snakeskin, zebra and leopard make a comeback, but we also saw a wide array of other creatures like birds, cats and sea animals. While some want to proclaim the leopard print phase passé, many just can’t seem to get enough of this feline-esque print. At Dolce&Gabbana, leopard print took center stage covering everything from flowy summer dresses to bathing suits in fluorescent colours. Roberto Cavalli also presented jungle-inspired prints which prominently featured the leopard as well.

Personally, I am a big fan of leopard, especially leopard print accessories! They have the ability transform any outfit into a chic and trendy ensemble. This Fashionista caught my eye simply because of her perfect printed clutch. The bag added some interest to her outfit and really elevated the entire look. The print was a true leopard colour so it wasn’t too over the top, and the woven detail made it look perfect for the summer. She kept the rest of the outfit simple with a basic berry coloured tank, cream lace shorts and tan sandals. She was also right on trend with her retro-inspired round sunglasses.

For a clutch like the one in the picture, try a similar version like this one from Saks Fifth Avenue. I also love a leopard print shoe like these Steve Madden ballet flats to complete an otherwise basic outfit. If you’re feeling more adventurous, try a fully patterned dress like this one from ASOS.
