Back in my London town for a week, I had the chance of finding out what the current trends of the city were as the spring season approaches. I never tire of the colourful outfits and beautiful bold patterns I see when walking around Oxford Street.
This Fashionista’s outfit is all about dark, bold colours on the outside and bright coloured patterns and layers underneath.
I personally love how she’s managed to mix all these black items together as they each have very different styles. Her roundtoe black suede creepers give her a sort of punk rocker look while her leggings are actually disco pants from American Apparel. Her designer bag and her very neatly arranged hair are what give the outfit that formal edge too. Matching different styles together really work well here.
You can always wear too much black — it’s simple and elegant. The important thing is to also bring a touch of colour to the outfit so it doesn’t actually become gloomy. Her dark green coat does just that and stands out very nicely here.
This Fashionista’s style mixing doesn’t just stop at her outerwear. Her leopard cardigan combined with her Illustrated People T-shirt with graphic prints really embrace the preppy kind of style that we also saw with her leggings and shoes. Her necklace, which she bought at the National Portrait Gallery in London, is not really punk but preppy and artsy instead. You can actually find very beautiful jewellery in exhibition shops and it’s nice to have memories behind each item.
Spring break is a truly fantastic opportunity to walk around and really explore places you’ve never been to. You can find unique styles just about anywhere if you search for them.
One Simple Change: You could absolutely wear this outfit at a concert. The shoes and the leggings are perfect for this kind of event. One thing I would change is the coat, as you need to be comfortable enough to move around. Wearing a leather vest or small green parka would work well here.
