LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS: Weather People

Let's Hear it for the Boys

I think we can officially say it’s been a very wildly fluctuating fall so far.  We have had random temperatures as high the '80s and then an infamous hurricane named Sandy as well. We dress for ourselves but also for the weather. In these hot and cold times it is important that we remain flexible Fashionistos. That is why it is important to bring layers when going on campus. We always find ourselves both getting too hot and only wearing a sweater, or too cold and only having a tank top or short-sleeve shirt on. Although we are transitioning into winter, fall is that medium in between so we have to give it time to stabilize, if you will, to average fall weather. It is our job to remember that short sleeves are not out of the picture just yet. On the randomly much warmer days, short sleeves and jeans are a perfect combo, as long as you remember a light jacket for the evening. This all came to me while people watching one day on campus, wondering how Fashionistos would be dealing with the hot and cold. Ironically enough, I was listening to a song called Weather People by RJD2 when I spotted this Fashionisto.

This Fashionisto is wearing one of the increasingly popular animal shirts. These shirts are very detailed and realistic. In most cases in person, there can be a 3D effect on some of them. I have seen and almost bought one of these shirts multiple times. These shirts are very cool and there are a wide selection of animals to choose from, everything from a cow to a guinea pig. I have trouble picking a favorite but I’d have to go with the elephant face. I found these awesome shirts on The Mountain. There is something very nostalgic of our youth about these shirts, reminiscent of the days when your favorite animal and color was the priority of your knowledge. This Fashionisto wore a statement shirt and made the other aspects of his look simple. This gives a good balance for a very detailed and attention-grabbing shirt. I also like that the jeans are rolled up a few times. A good friend influenced me to do that a few months back and now I’ll never go back. Rolling the pants up a few just makes you more agile as a student on the go. Scratch that, forever on the go. This Fashionisto also wore a hat, which is very important to rock if you’re going to do a short-sleeve shirt and jeans during the day because it is the perfect way of keeping you warm. It is said that you can lose up to 75% of your body heat through your head, so headwear and balancing out your comfort ability with the weather is a fundamental part of being a Fashionisto.

Hint: Fashionistos, while we have been having very warm days leading to brisk evenings, it is important to make sure you are being flexible! The best way to be prepared for this would be to bring layers with you and wear a hat. Also, don’t be afraid of statement shirts, Fashionistos — they are your friends!
