This is my last week here in Milan, and it has been very bitter sweet. I am excited to go home and see all my friends and family, but at the same time I am sad to see all my new friends go and leave the place I have come accustomed to call home. Everyone is much busier now planning their holiday dinners and getting ready for the New Year that you can hardly walk in stores and streets without running into several people. As I was walking these bustling streets, I saw a sea of black and neutral colors and nothing really seem to jump out at me. Neutral colors do not have to be boring or not interesting; you can always take something that is neutral and mass market and make it into your own to reflect who you are in your outfit.
Today’s Fashionista jumped out at me as I started to head home. She has taken neutral and common items and made them reflect her own cute style. She is wearing a stylish gray coat with a pair of light blue jeans, a heavy knitted tube scarf and a pair of UGGs to bring the look of casual wear to a complete. To add a bit of texture and intrigue, she accessorizes her outfit with a petal inspired cross body bag. A simple outfit like this can say a lot about your mood and what your goals are for the day. Her cute style outfit is great for the errands she is running because she has combined important elements of comfort and functionality with style.
Some different ideas to make this type of outfit our own could be to add a belt to your coat; belted coats are very popular this season. You do not have to necessarily buy a coat with a belt on it already, you can find a belt that fits you and mix and match it with the coats and jackets you already have. Or if you are not a jeans girl you could wear a pair of thick leggings with a design on them to add a different type of texture and breakup of the outfit.
I hope everyone is having a great holiday and have a great New Year!
