What caught my eye on this fierce Fashionista was her floaty, ethereal dress, and when prompted where to find such an angelic staple, I was shocked to discover it wasn’t from hipster hangouts Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, or a vintage thrift store. “American Eagle,” she replied, confidently. It takes a true Fashionista to dig through the brightly colored polos and floral print cardis of stores such as Hollister Co. and Aéropostale and discover a heaven-sent, boho-ballerina-inspired dress, the envy of many a hipster pondering where to acquire such a divine treasure. We had a wonderful chat, during which she gave me priceless insight on how to build a true Fashionista’s wardrobe.

How To: What struck me after the initial shock of the origin of the dainty find wore off, were the endless possibilities of how to rock a delicate dress like this. Vanessa chose to compliment her girly staple with a dark beige lace cardigan and classic caramel-colored riding boots. She adds a few bracelets and bangles, an elegant heart pendant, and to complete her look: a Native-American-inspired headband. These accessories give the outfit a trendy feel, as she blends elements of bohemian, girly, and classic fashion in her ensemble.
One could toughen up the dress by swapping the lace cardi for a leather jacket and the riding boots for studded black platform heels. Another option would be to ditch the cardigan and wear the dress with nude heels or ballet flats to make the ensemble more formal. For a more classic and work appropriate look, one could keep the riding boots and choose a cream-colored blazer and a long pendant necklace. The possibilities are endless when the center of an outfit is an airy, neutral, tulle and lace dress.
