ACCESSORIES REPORT: Oxfords Are The New Deal

Uncategorized

Please, in a show of hands, who did not fall in love with Chanel’s runway show in Linlithgow Palace, Scotland? The maison’s recent pre-fall 2013 collection was mainly about plaid and other textiles found traditional in Scotland. Needless to say, its what inspired me to portray this Fashionista’s “scotty” oxfords. With the right mixture of dark brown and traditional print, this accessory gives any look a small touch of Linlithgow Palace. Which is no coincidence since oxford shoes were historically very popular in the country — now they’re pretty much popular anywhere.

Oxfords have been stamped as this year’s fall shoes, but let’s face it; they’re any season’s shoes. To fashionistas everywhere, they’ve become the perfect alternative to sandals, ballet flats and tennis shoes. What’s even more attractive is that they’re always comfortable and can look either dressy or more laid back, depending on how you style your outfit. Another desirable trait is that they follow a minimalist design, which makes them less prone to being disliked or simply tiring.

Sienna Miller and Taylor Swift are two celebs that have already fallen for these shoes, and believe me; they’re far from being the only ones. So word of advice: invest in oxfords if you haven’t done so already. Check out these amazing red ones, or these leopard ones (crazy good, or what?), or simply, a pair of black suedes (on piperlime.com type in: Tonic by Coconuts) because you can never go wrong with black. Choose your favorite and enjoy a break from sandals and tennis shoes!

Spotted: Snazzy oxfords seen in Derek Lam’s fall 2012 runway show.
