Stores like Anthropologie and American Apparel and people like my best friend’s mom have all embraced the newest and warmest accessory, the infinity scarf.
While some scarfs function solely as an accessory, this knitted infinity scarf is oversized and thick in order to shelter this Fashionista from the winter winds while also acting as the signature piece of the outfit. The neutrality of the black makes the scarf a very versatile piece because it would match any outfit. This infinity scarf also helps accentuate this Fashionista’s adorable and sassy pixie haircut because it draws attention to her shoulders and face. Personally, I think short hair is beautiful, and would be next in line for my Anne Hathaway Les Miserables haircut if not for my rather prominent Italian nose…
But similarly to how this Fashionista rocks her hair style, she also perfectly balances her outfit. Because her infinity scarf is such a prominent piece, she doesn’t overwhelm her outfit by adding too many accessories. Instead, her only other accessories are her small studded earrings and her staple Michael Kors tote bag. For any outfit, it’s important to decide on three or less accessories because less is always more!
Proportions are always important when it comes to clothes. Pairing tights with a short mini and long, loose sweater or a fitted blouse with boyfriend jeans are the best kind of combinations because their opposite shapes help provide a balance. This Fashionista’s burnt rust jeans and oversized gray sweater complement each other in the best way possible.
By sticking to all neutral colors, this Fashionista maximizes on her ability to mix fabrics and patterns. She is able to wear light wash jeans, a wool sweater and a thick needle knitted scarf without clashing. In fact, these different materials help add texture to her outfit. However, when wearing all neutrals, it is crucial to pair them with some kind of distinctive piece that spices up the outfit. In this case, this Fashionista choses to wear cheetah patterned flats, which brings a spunky pop to her outfit! While the shoes still fall in the neutral category, the animal print is the perfect contrast to the rest of the outfit.
What I especially love about this outfit is how eclectic it is. Her pieces range from designer brand, to Target pieces to my favorite store…the Goodwill! Shopping at many different venus not only offers you the opportunity to find great pieces but it also makes you more unique and fashionable!
