I’m Maggie Levine, and I’m so thrilled to be reporting as a Style Guru for the University at Albany for a second semester! This past fall I wrote all about accessories, but this semester I am looking forward to be writing on Mondays for STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK. As a music theory and communications double major, I don’t study fashion in college, but in the past few years have developed a strong interest in high fashion styles and trends. This semester, I hope to shine light on the chic looks my fellow UAlbany students pull off in a trendy yet casual and comfy way.
My style has definitely evolved throughout my college years, and now as a junior, I would say I tend to wear items that are both comfortable yet trendy. For example, I have worn my extremely warm and cozy faux fur vest about three times a week this winter season over whatever sweater or long sleeve tee I have on that day. It is so versatile and can be thrown on in a quick second to elevate an outfit from plain to bold. This season I have also taken to leather leggings, which are quite comfortable but more high fashion than everyday black leggings. I usually wear them with my Etienne Aigner boots to add even more black leather to the mix.
While I’ve been enjoying the trends of this season, I am without a doubt more of a summer girl than winter. Thus, I am very excited to write for the STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK column as the weather gets warmer. I will be searching high and low for unique sundresses and maxi dresses worn with strappy gladiator sandals. I also love jean shorts detailed with lace and embroidery, especially when paired with an unexpected shoe choice, such as combat boots or high-top sneakers. Be ready UAlbany Fashionistas/os, I will be seeking you out. I’m ready to showcase your individual and stylish looks every week!
