Over the last couple weeks, students could be seen all over the country campaigning for the presidential election. Even with unusually cold and rainy weather in Oxford, students were seen actively campaigning. These students were not only inspiring with their actions but also with their wardrobes. What especially stood out to me this election year was the resurgence of campaign buttons. To me, they’re a nod to years before, and it’s fascinating to think about the historical representation that such a simple item captures.
With designers like Ralph Lauren who have worked for years to create the intrinsically 'preppy' look of America today, it's amazing to see it still so prevalent with the college crowd. Sometimes, it's the old-fashioned look that makes one stand out in a crowd.
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?
Sean Higgins: I’m wearing a J.Crew sweater and navy pants, with a Brooks Brothers button-down.
CF: What did you want to accomplish with your 'campaign outfit'?
SH: I wanted to look professional but also somewhat urban.
CF: Where do you usually shop?
SH: I usually shop at J.Crew, Brooks Brothers or Ralph Lauren.
CF: As a guy, do you think it's important to look presentable on campus?
SH: I think it's very important—just as important as a female looking presentable.
CF: What's your view on men's fashion?
SH: I like men's fashion, and I like to shop and attempt to look good!
To Do: Sean’s look is extremely classic. You could find similar pieces at many different stores! V-neck or cable-knit sweaters are a staple that will be popular for years to come. And this is true for both ladies and gentlemen—invest in quality pieces that will last season after season!
