It’s midterms week here at Ole Miss, and I was fully expecting to see a lot of students in sweatshirts and yoga pants walking from the library to their respective classes. So, imagine my surprise when I spotted this Fashionista rocking a totally comfortable look that still managed to be chic!
I’ve loved the recent resurgence of nineties styles in the fashion world, so her oversized flannel shirt is obviously a no-brainer. Cowboy boots are a staple of many closets down south, but her pair stands out with the turquoise detailing. ‘Four-eyes’ no more, her Fendi glasses show that style most certainly goes hand in hand with studying.
Next time you’re reaching for that oversized sweatshirt, think about how easy it is to put together a stylish outfit that’s equally as comfortable.
Name: Layne Wineland
Year: Senior
Major: Marketing
College Fashionista: What are some of your favorite stores to shop at?
Layne Wineland: Anthropologie, Libby Story and Goodwill… I am still in college, and definitely on a budget!
CF: What inspires your sense of style?
LW: Comfort over everything! I love the layers that come out in autumn. As far as people go, Alexa Chung is a goddess in the fashion world, so it doesn’t hurt to check out her recent looks.
CF: What is one item you can’t live without?
LW: My Frye Shirley Boots.
CF: What are your favorite trends?
LW: I love the classic dark nail colors, huge satchels and oversized Navajo sweaters of the fall and winter. My favorite spring/summer trend was color blocking!
How To: Layne’s look can easily be re-created for a long day on campus. Take a trip to your local Goodwill store to find over-sized flannels that won’t break the bank. Try the men’s section for the best selection! Throw on a pair of comfortable leggings for a look that’s much more sophisticated than sweatpants, without sacrificing comfort. Add your favorite pair of boots – western, riding, biker or anything else you love – and you’re ready for the day.
