Honestly, what can be better than layers? It doesn’t get too cold here, but students still embrace the cooler temperatures by adding extra pieces to their outfits.
This Fashionista was on her way to meet up with classmates to work on a group project, and her chic layers instantly stood out. A lot of people think that adding layers only adds bulk, which makes them shy away from this look, but she shows that it’s easy to look put-together and stylish while wearing layers.

College Fashionista: What are you wearing today?
Emma Holman: I’m wearing a long sleeve T-shirt and vest from Gap, my favorite 917 stretch jeans from The Limited and a pair of Steve Madden boots! Every part of this outfit is so comfortable that I feel like I’m wearing pajamas to class.
CF: What are you most excited to wear now that it’s getting colder outside?
EH: Fall scarves! They can completely transform any of my outfits. I will try and find a way to incorporate a scarf into any look.
CF: What inspires your personal style?
EH: Definitely comfort. If I’m uncomfortable, I won’t be confident. And there isn’t a fall scarf in the world that could fix an outfit without confidence!
CF: What’s your go-to when getting dressed for class?
EH: I’m usually planning on throwing a J.Crew cardigan over a T-shirt on any given day. They’re so comfortable and I often convince myself it’s more acceptable to wear a T-shirt if I’m going to put something that isn’t a hoodie or Patagonia over it.
CF: What are your favorite places to shop?
EH: I love most everything from Gap and Madewell. I know that anything I get from those places is going to look good both on and off the hanger, so it’s safe bet for me to buy online, too.
How To: It’s easy to recreate Emma’s look. First, find a vest that you like. This vest would take any outfit to an extra-dressy level. You can never go wrong with a classic puffer vest. Riding boots are a chic option that look pair well with any outfit.
