ACCESSORIES REPORT: Ring Around The Rosary

Accessories Report

When the word rosary comes to mind, I picture an innocent little girl dressed in all white inside a church, praying with the rosary gripped tightly into her hands. Another image that comes to mind is Madonna in her “Like A Virgin” music video. Madonna plays the character of a pure bride dressed in all white embarking on her journey of womanhood, contrasting with her other character, a sexually independent woman strutting around Venice with an abunance of jewlery and rosaries around her neck. Yes, this video may have been shot in the 80s, but fellow Fashionistas, the rosary is back.

I’m not going to lie, I am pretty skeptical of wearing anything with a religious connotation to it because I’m afraid of whom it could offend. But in this case, I feel that this Fashionista sported this trend to perfection. What first caught my attention was her pastel, maxi skirt matched with her gray tank — a charming color combination for the summer. Her rosary necklace adds that angelic yet edgy touch to the outfit. The great part about the rosary necklace is you can wear it symbolically or non-symbolically. It’s looks cute either way.

Our Fashionista isn’t particularly religious, but she likes the question it leaves people wondering, “Is she playing naughty or nice?” That’s the beauty of accessories, they allow people to express themselves in a different light. Fashion has a tremendous way of turning everyday objects into something creative and wearable.

Not only have cross necklaces become a popular accessory, but also apparel with crosses on them have become quite the hype! You can find rosary necklaces with an assortment of different looks. Try Forever 21 or NASTY GAL to get this sophisticated look to top off your outfit. Plus, it wouldn’t hurt to have a little Holy Spirit on your side.

Spotted: Ladies and gentlemen, be inspired by crosses in Christian Lacroix's collection.
