STYLE GURU BIO: Livia Agyekum

Style Guru Bio

My name is Livia Agyekum, and I am a girl absolutely obsessed with fashion and beauty! The combination of my love for fashion and writing has led me to purse a career in magazine journalism. I am a junior at the University of Florida where I am currently majoring in journalism.

In addition to blogging about fashion in my spare time, I also love to create makeup tutorials to feature on my YouTube channel.  I believe my passion for fashion is a trait I inherited from my grandmother. She was a self-made seamstress and clothing designer in her native country of Ghana in West Africa. It is from her that I learned to trust my inner Fashionista and embrace my originality and personal style.

Although I am a fashion chameleon, I would consider my personal style to be feminine with an edgy twist. My style is heavily influenced by the past because I am a sucker for vintage pieces and also influenced by my African heritage because I am a lover of bold prints. I love fashion because it is all about mixing styles to create the right style for yourself. An example of an ideal outfit for me would be a loose mini dress that is cinched in at the waist with a vintage gold belt and paired with a cheetah print scarf.  I am a certified bargain hunter, so nothing satisfies me more than a sale or a great deal on a fabulous addition to my wardrobe. I believe some of the best fashion pieces can be found in places you least expect, which is why I enjoy shopping at boutiques and thrift stores. I am also a big fan of shopping at stores like Forever 21 and Zara.

This spring I will be writing the LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS column for my university. Through this I hope to expand my knowledge of men’s fashion and really capture some of the university’s best Fashionistos.
