As we all fear, August is just around the corner, meaning summer is proceeding to a close. I know the thought of school lingers, but the sight of seeing old friends beckons. Though on the bright side, four weeks of sunshine are our fortune, as the nights grow cool and the winds become chilled. A Fashionisto needs to know how to stay on target. Instead of pulling out a hoodie to do the job, maybe opt for something a little riskier.
While walking down a small side road on a sunny breezy Monday, a Fashionisto caught my eye. He mastered the art of edgy summer wear to keep warm. Denim on denim may be a fashion don’t in some books, but he definitely mastered staying warm on a cool summers day.
Denim on denim needs to be done right to wear it correctly, and it’s not hard as it looks. Fashionistos, scout your closets high and low for that single pair of dark wash jeans. Next, pair it with an acid or light-wash denim shirt. Since it’s still the heated months, look for a thinner denim fabric for the shirt.
This Fashionisto looks at his British roots to propel him to dress like an individual. Where media is a strong point for fashion, knowledge of heritage tends to be the beat-all force.
What I like about this style is that the Fashionisto pays attention to details such as his shirt, which is not a simple button-down in a light wash. He chose a trendier piece. The top has only partial buttoning, which adds some variety to the mix along with double-breasted pockets. He paired it with dark denim and fascinating boat shoes in brown, which makes a laid back feel. And why not top the whole mix with great pair of chocolate tortoise wayfarers. An overall classy look but on point.
Fashionistos, not all denim on denim is for winter. It can be worn on a cool summer day. Look for light wash shirts in a thinner weave of denim and remember to always go dark on the bottom.
