From previous posts you may have guessed that one of my favorite—if not my single favorite—color for fall (or any time of year, really) is deep red. The shade is most commonly known as maroon, burgundy or oxblood amongst others, and it adds an understated luxe sentiment to any look.
This Fashionisto wore this must have hue in a classic V-neck sweater worn over a plaid button-up and denim. If you’re a little apprehensive about how to incorporate this color into your wardrobe, try to find accessories you would ordinarily wear and get them in deep red instead of black, or whatever colors you normally gravitate to.
Shoes are an excellent way to do this. As great as Jordans and Dr. Martens are, sometimes simple and sleek are the best way to go if you’re easing your way into this addition of color to your wardrobe. These high-tops by Creative Recreation and these ankle boots by Generic Surplus are a subtler introduction to crimson clothes. Another accessory option could be a hat. Supreme has become known for their hats season to season, and this fall they did not disappoint. Again, going for a clean option such as their Atelier 5-Panel will give you the most versatility.
Hopefully I’ve persuaded some non-believers out there into going out and getting a scarlet sweater or accessory so my color obsession can spread!
Hint: If you’re still not convinced that this color works for you, integrate it into your wardrobe one step at a time like with a pair of socks. It’s so simple, but can still be eye-catching when used as a pop of color while wearing cuffed fitted denim. They can even be worn in the summer with a pair of basic lace-ups and shorts for that easy west coast vibe.
