The colder, crisp air of autumn is finally starting to hit the streets of Richmond. Fashionistos all around campus are beginning to embrace the drop in temperatures. It’s time to say so long to the shorts and sandals and hello to hats, scarves and jackets. Even though the seasons might be changing, some trends are here to stay. This Fashionisto that I spotted combined different types of classic pieces to create one hip signature look.
The first thing I noticed about this Fashionisto’s look was his slick varsity jacket. Letterman jackets aren’t just for high school, gentleman! This fall, we have seen a resurgence of this timeless piece. The Rag & Bone fall 2011 show featured many fun, fresh styles of the varsity jacket styled in a more grown up, sophisticated manner. By pairing the jacket with a well-fitted pair of chinos and an impeccable pair of boat shoes, he keeps the look clean and simple.
With a letterman jacket, chinos and a pair of boat shoes, this look could have been easily mistaken for a prep school uniform. However, this fashionisto adds a few key pieces to set his look apart from the rest. His Rastafarian inspired hat not only gives him some warmth in the cooler temperatures of November, but makes this look one of a kind.
Hint: There are many different styles of varsity jackets that will work for you, your wardrobe and your budget. Urban Outfitters sells a basic jacket with a striped rib trim, Brooks Brothers features an all fleece jacket, and you can purchase a more embellished, statement jacket from Karmaloop. No matter what your style is, there is a varsity jacket that will work for you and your wardrobe.
