As much as I love fall and everything that it embraces – Halloweentown marathons, pumpkin-flavored everything and most importantly fall fashion- for college students, the coming of fall also means an immense amount of midterms and essays. In the midst of running around campus during one of the busiest times of the year, in terms of fashion, Fashionistas and Fashionistos alike both can agree on the fact that comfort is key.
Coincidentally, I happened to find this week’s trendy student in front of the library. I could not help but notice his casual yet comfortably stylish getup in a pair of Free World khaki pants, H&M graphic T-shirt, Urban Outfitters button-down and Vans. In times of chaos and academic deadlines, this carefree look affirms the fact that it is still possible to look good and feel good at the same time.
Among the plethora of well-dressed men on campus, this Fashionisto certainly caught my attention due to his choice of shirts and layering technique. Donning a graphic T-shirt with a printed design advertising Californian parks, his love for hiking and the outdoors is apparent. Graphic T-shirts are undoubtedly a building block in any man’s wardrobe; you can dress it up or dress it down however you please, depending on the occasion. The beauty of graphic T-shirts is that the selection itself is diverse enough to fit any personality or mood.
Accompanying his graphic T-shirt is by far the most unique part of this ensemble; a light blue button-down with perhaps one of the greatest prints I have ever seen. Originally from Urban Outfitters, this shirt was found at a local thrift store, confirming that some of the most individualistic treasures can be found by any Fashionisto on a budget. It has been pretty evident for the past year that this cat phenomenon has been prevalent in magazines, décor and it has definitely translated itself into the fashion scene. I myself am a proud owner of several articles of clothing and accessories sporting eclectic kitty-chic designs. In this outfit, the placement of the design on the back gives the ensemble a full 360 degrees of fashionable praise and purrrfection.
Hint: Graphic T-shirts are a great way to make a statement whether you are out at a dinner with friends or just taking a casual stroll around campus. If you’re aiming for a more sophisticated, crisp look, try pairing a more simplistic design like this retro printed shirt with a neutral colored blazer. Not only will this comfortable pairing help you get those As during midterm week, but also an A+ on your sense of style.
