Although classic colors, like black, are always in style, there are seasons where a specific color seems to dominate trends more so than others. Akin to Pantone always declaring an official color of the year (this year it’s radiant orchid if you wanted to know), sometimes designers just seem to all pick similar colors for their collections and then that hue takes off. Through the magic of some sociological effect, that color will somehow come to seriously influence cities, big retailers and street style blogs alike.
Big designers like Carven and Alexander Wang were all just at Paris Fashion Week, and they all had one thing in common: camel. A little darker than tan and much lighter than your typical brown, camel has become a huge trending color in menswear and will only continue to flourish this winter.
This Fashionisto embraces the trend through his camel overcoat. While the rest of his outfit itself is quite casual—a quarter zip, jeans and boat shoes—the camel overcoat immediately makes his ensemble more eye-catching than what you might see on a typical college-aged male. The fit of this Fashionisto’s coat also is worth mentioning: a broad almost draped-like fit is starting to grow in popularity in men’s coats as opposed to a more flared A-line fit. His shoes, albeit casual, still effectively add a finishing touch to this combination through its parallel brown tones. All in all, this Fashionisto incorporates camel into his outfit quite smoothly.
