I don’t know why the rule of no white before Memorial Day and after Labor Day exists. I learned this age-old rule long ago, but as I age, the more I think it needs to be exhausted. White can be worn before Memorial Day, after Labor Day and still look good. I say wear white year round and look good doing it.
This week’s Fashionisto agrees with me on my new white rule. He wears a crisp pair of white jeans, perfect for weather that is just starting to feel like spring. It might take a bit of searching to find a pair of nice fitting white jeans for men, but check out ASOS for some options. Slim fit, skinny, denim, studs, they have quite the collection of white jeans to peruse.
While the jeans make the outfit, this Fashionisto knows how to pair well. He sports a denim button-down under a worn, vintage Illinois sweatshirt. My favorite store for denim is J.Crew. They have a variety of colors and styles like this dark indigo wash. As for the sweatshirt, you can’t go wrong with vintage. Scour downtown Champaign thrift stores for some vintage finds. Also, dig through your parent’s closet; you might be surprised what you see. Grab your Sperry Top-Siders, roll up your jeans and you are ready for anything.
Hint: Check our your local campus store for your school’s clothing. Make sure to save school shirts, sweatshirts and more to wear years down the road.
