LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS: What’s On The Inside Matters

From the Editor, Let's Hear it for the Boys

You know the saying: “April showers bring May flowers.” Well this year, it seems like April showers just bring more cold weather. (This updated version is definitely not as catchy nor widely-appreciated as the original.) So as long as the cold weather doesn’t seem to be leaving us anytime soon, it is time to embrace it.

We have hopefully ditched our winter coats until next year. But, with this unpredictable weather, finding the perfect spring coat is equally as important. This Fashionisto’s jacket is spot-on for the season and super stylish as well.

His tan anorak is definitely unique. While the army green anorak is popular amongst Fashionistas and Fashionistos for its color and military-vibe, this Fashionisto opted for a less obvious choice. The warm, buttery tan of his jacket is bright and a perfect welcome to spring. It is a great pop of color and a safe yet stylish bet for Fashionistos.

While the exterior color is definitely interesting, it is perhaps the lining that really caught my attention. The green and blue plaid is the perfect complement to rest of the coat. The military, tough exterior juxtaposes wonderfully against the classic, preppy plaid. So often the liner of a coat seems like an afterthought. But when your jacket is left open in the warmer weather, this Fashionisto shows that it can be just as important (if not more important) than the exterior.

So take your mom’s longtime advice when shopping for a spring coat and remember—it is what is on the inside that matters (especially if it is plaid).

Hint: With a standout coat, you can keep the rest of your look rather simple, like this Fashionisto. A pair of white tennis shoes, black skinny jeans and a gray tank are the optimal base for any look.
