The rain has finally stopped here in Santa Barbara as students are adjusting to the “cold” weather. The days are chilly and windy, but that doesn’t stop the true Fashionistas/os from shining! Staying fashionable in cold weather, definitely isn’t an easy thing with the term “sweater weather” going around. However, this week’s Fashionisto shows that you can be comfortable, warm and trendy all at the same time!
By taking seemingly ordinary pieces and creating an eye-catching outfit, this week’s Fashionisto proves that good style isn’t always about having extravagant pieces. For one, a striped sweater (like the one worn here) is an essential, and is easily found in most people’s closets. With the return of the vest this past year, many have dug out their old storage bins to bring them back! Add a homey vest to a simple sweater, and voila— you’re already halfway there to looking trendy and staying warm.
For the bottoms, this Fashionisto kept it cool with navy pants, cuffed at the end. With the outfit being relatively dark, the tan colored oxfords completed the look, balancing out the colors, and making the overall look very warm. Although there is a mix of many colors in the entire outfit, by keeping the colors in the same family, this Fashionisto was easily able to pull it off.
To finish the look, any true lover of fashion knows, that no outfit is compete without accessories. Wearing a fancy bronze watch makes the look a bit more polished and clean. The half-framed glasses add a touch of class to the look, perfecting the overall “cool” feel of the outfit.
Hint: When wearing a vest with a printed sweater, make sure there are no clashing patterns or colors. Keeping the colors similar is the key to looking casual and cool!
