As you may have noticed during the more frigid seasons, there is a subtle trend that’s been notorious for the past few consecutive years. Leading into this year, the trend has been celebrated now to the point that it serves as a purposeful use for not only women but also men — the highly recognized army jacket. Though its color, army green, is quite fitting for autumn, its functionality is clearly the reason it occupies the category of unisexual clothing. Today’s Fashionisto exhibits how to properly coordinate this refined, utilitarian trend into typical everyday wear.
I spotted him looking rather chic on his way to get coffee with a good friend. From the very sight of his Ray-Ban sunglasses, it was obvious that this was not just any guy who throws on a few things that look “right.” He was indeed a bona fide Fashionisto. From his pumpkin waffle-weave J.Crew T-shirt to his dark-wash Gap denim, I sensed nothing from him but an essence of his sophisticated personality (not to mention his burgundy Clark Desert Boots, another trend in men’s shoes that seems to be very popular lately). The addition of his army jacket took his otherwise everyday look from a three to a 10 on the best dressed Fashionisto scale! Its gold zippers added a little elegance, while the pockets created the jacket’s intentionally structured military feel.
Hint: If you find that wearing the same jacket every day is boring and dull, use this gentleman’s style as a guide or inspiration. When asked if he usually dresses so fabulously, he responded, “I try to have fun with it. Picking to wear different things is always more exciting than just sweats and a T-shirt.” Sport the jacket but be creative and mix different things underneath. Like he said, have fun with it!
