This past fall fashion season has seen a lot of the turtleneck, and with the fall winter 2014 collection by The Row, it seems as though the turtleneck is not going anywhere. Celebrities like Zayn Malik (GQ‘s Best Dressed) sported the turtleneck just a few months ago and people are taking notice. The revived look represents the times. We’re moving out of an era of purposeful messiness and moving once again into an era of sharply dressed individuals.
I am a huge supporter of this trend whether it be a fitted turtleneck on its own, a turtleneck layered under a sweater or a large, chunky turtleneck for a new silhouette. This Fashionisto’s turtleneck caught my eye and I knew I had to photograph him. Paired with a tartan plaid scarf, the look not only evokes a classic vibe, but manages to stay on trend while maintaining an uncomplicated appearance. The peacoat and the black rain boots are also quintessential in a fashion wardrobe, while both being optimal for winter wear.
This Fashionisto makes a statement worth raving about with his shopper tote. The navy tote fits well with the navy in the scarf’s design, making for a well put together outfit. Every piece of this Fashionisto’s outfit meshes together seamlessly and each piece makes a statement on its own while still having the possibility of fitting into a variety of ensemble options. Overall, this Fashionisto knows how to make a trend seem natural and timeless.
Hint: To achieve this look I would recommend starting with the star of this outfit: the turtleneck. There is a fantastic selection at Topman such as this turtleneck here. To accessorize like this Fashionisto, a scarf like this one by Glen Lossie is the perfect option to stay on the tartan trend and keep warm. Classic Hunter boots just like this Fashionisto is wearing can be found here. The boots can be worn year round and will never go out of style. I highly recommend them. Lastly, swap out the standard backpack for a tote just like this one here at Topman.
