While summer weather took a momentary backseat to the Chicago cold front, city natives resorted back to their sweats and jeans. I took this time to carefully determine the rest of my summer wardrobe before completely packing away the winter clothes. In the great windy city it is absolutely necessary to be prepared for whatever may come. However, even though the weather was cooling down, style was heating up.
As I was out shopping I spotted this stylish Fashionisto amongst his friends and looking quite fabulous, if I may add. From his studded lapel to his combat boots, the cool temperatures did not stand a chance against this fierce Fashionisto. His outstanding personality was matched perfectly with his unique take on the rustic and rugged motorcycle trend. Not a typical summer trend, I know, but this ensemble really tells a lot about the weather here in Chicago and the endurance of its trendy natives.
While the black skinny jeans seem like a no-brainer to this outfit, it becomes much more complex with the Fashionisto’s chiffon tunic and embellished blazer. His outfit works well simply because he sticks to one color, black. As a basic, black can be worn in an assortment of pieces when styled correctly. Since he was going for the rugged look, his boots were a perfect medium of embellished and destroyed.
Just when I thought this Fashionisto could not be any more fashion forward, he whips open his blazer and shows off a printed tunic. This layer serves as the statement to the entire outfit because of its print and bright pop of color. This menswear look was pushed to a whole new level with the feminine tunic under the blazer. He really knew how to shake up a classic style and truly make it his own.
Hint: To get a dash of feminine in your menswear, go for a printed shirt under your blazer. While it does not have to be tunic length it should be visible from underneath. Not loving the embellishments and tunic? Make a rugged trend all your own by adding personal touches, such as accent accessories. Watches and hats keep this look masculine without all of the hardware tacked on. Also, with a solid shirt the style is simplified and versatile.
