It is about that time of year when the itch for summer and all its freedom begins to spread like wildfire around campus. This Fashionisto is no exception. Whether consciously, or subconsciously, this Fashionisto has chosen to sport a very vacation appropriate ensemble.
Upon seeing the top this Fashionisto was wearing, I was immediately transported to a scenario of sipping mai tais and pina coladas poolside at a notorious Viva Las Vegas event. If you are unfamiliar with the annual event, Viva Las Vegas is a “rockabilly weekender” for the nostalgic of heart. Over the weekend, there is a serious of vintage car shows, pin-up competitions and more! Surely, this is a place a Fashionisto of his style sensibilities would fit in just fine.
With his tasteful pompadour hairstyle, modernly spun 1960s reminiscent tropical button-down and well-coiffed cuffed pant, this Fashionisto has no shortage of old-school flair. However, on any typical day this Fashionisto says that is style motto is “simple but refined,” a concept he has come to master well. He added that generally he does like to keep his look modern, with the exception of his hairstyle — the pompadour — made famous by rock idols like Elvis Presley.
Hint: What keeps this look fresh and unfussy are the modern touches to the ensemble. For example, the materials are not authentically vintage, which are typically thick, itchy and uncomfortable. Therefore, the linens make the outfit appear smoother and more streamlined, rather than bulky and historical. Many designers are currently inspired by vintage eras so finding prints or silhouettes from the past is a breeze. All you have to do is look!
