Even though I grew up surrounded by parents whose last interests are sports, my grandmother always told me about her obsession with the New York Yankees and as a result, despite never watching an actual game of baseball, I have always had a fixation on the team nonetheless. Perhaps it is their catchy logo or navy colors that have me enthralled with the team’s gear. When I saw this Fashionisto sporting this cap, I immediately needed to capture his sporty look in the city.
Although this Fashionisto wears a raglan T-shirt, a very baseball-esque shirt, he mixes up the entire look with his faded cuffed jeans and suede oxfords. His mixture between edgy and sporty is a different one, and one which I have noticed that has taken a rise in popularity. There seems to be an increase in Fashionistos and Fashionistas that incorporate Nike sneaks into their fashionable wardrobes once again (recall the ’80s), creating comfortable yet fashion-forward looks that would have previously been paired with a pair of booties or Clark’s. This Fashionisto rocks the one strap leather backpack and wears what seam to be the classic Wayfarers at first glance, but are actually an updated model, featuring a geometric irregularity on the outer rim. His slightly tucked in two-toned raglan T-shirt effectively creates a messy yet composed look. The Fashionisto brings in some different shades of color into the picture, opting for sand colored shoes rather than an expected black. His Yankee cap ties in his entire look and he avoids looking too sporty or like a typical tourist because of his shirt and pant selection. This Fashionisto pays homage to America’s favorite past time and yet he gives the classic accessory a new fashionable twist.
Hint: Rock the baseball cap in a new way. Instead of opting for the usual basketball shorts and cap combo, wear jeans and a button-down and top it off with a team cap!
