I challenge any man out there to admit they do not own a pair of jeans. More importantly your jeans are most likely your favorite piece in your closet. For years and years denim has been an absolute staple in Americans’ wardrobes. The sturdy, wearable fabric is comfortable and casual for all occasions. This season, designers have popularized the beloved textile once again! However, simple jean leg wear is not the only category we can find the famed fabric this summer. An influx of denim is being applied to a multitude of other pieces. For instance jackets, blazers, shirts, shoes and vests were redesigned using denim in various prints, patchworks and washes. The trend is not ground-breaking or new in any way, but it is definitely wearable and should be making new statements for both men and women this season.
I spotted this Fashionisto portraying an eclectic style in a trendy manner. Instead of traditional jeans he chose to display the trend in a washed denim vest. His vest is classic and fitted to his slender frame with double-breast pocketing detail. It accentuates an urban edge and keeps his look daytime casual. Underneath the vest is a graphic tee. The combination of a denim vest and graphic tee is youthful and hip, almost as if he could be the guitarist for an up-and-coming underground rock band. His khaki engineer cap definitely makes an allusion to a 1970s rocker. It is interesting how he manages to keep a vintage vibe apparent throughout his ensemble while incorporating the current trend. His shoes are more of a preppy twist. He chose to pair a Macalister boot with cuffed black skinny jeans. The boot is simple and classic and doesn’t distract from the rest of his outfit. Overall the denim trend works perfectly here for a cool retro-inspired leisure look.
Hint: Want to try out the denim trend at night? Try out a denim shirt with a look similar to this. The button-down will amp up the formal feel a tad while maintaining that casual cool flair that denim does so well.
