Since the weather has been frigid and dreary, with Middle Tennessee getting an abundance of rain, it was hard to spot a man that actually cared about his appearance. Then, I spotted this Fashionisto in his vibrant red pants and sleek leather jacket. When I approached him to ask for a picture, I was in awe of the way he mixed two hard fabrics effortlessly and, without a doubt, pulled off an exquisite ensemble.
This Fashionisto is very on-trend wearing a floral button down reminiscent of Dries Van Norten’s spring/summer 2014 menswear collection. However, this button-down had a textured edge, being that it is velvet. The shirt matched up effortlessly with an edgy leather jacket and is tied together with fiery red denim skinny jeans. He accents his outfit with a gold necklace, wooden bead bracelets and black suede shoes.
The mixed textures in this Fashionisto’s look isn’t all about the appearance of it. With both fabrics being heavy, their is a better chance of staying warm in the frost-bound polar vortex. So, keeping toasty isn’t just sweats and heavy pullovers. You can stay warm by being fashionable and mixing textures, too. Now I say that if this Fashionisto can look stylish in the cold, so can you!
Hint: Fellas, mixing textures gives your outfits dimension so don’t be afraid to slap on that fur and tweed or sport silk shirt and leather pants. Also, if you are having trouble finding a cool textured shirt, fashion is very asexual. Cross over to the women’s section of your local thrift store and find a cool floral button-down. If you don’t want anyone to know, no worries! Your secret is safe with me.
