With the semester coming to a close, it can only mean one thing—finals. It’s the dreaded week of no sleeping, no eating and constant caffeine intake. For Rutgers students, this is our last week of classes, so studying has officially taken its jump start. One thing I always notice when I spend countless hours in the library is what my peers are wearing. It ranges from oversized sweatpant outfits to pajama pants with a mismatching T-shirt to a Fashionista/o who stands out and rocks a trendy yet casual outfit. There are so many simple ways to dress nicely while still being comfortable and ready to hit the books.
This Fashionisto was on his way to class when I spotted his trendy ensemble. From head to toe, this guy’s style is admirable. The first thing that caught my eye was his hip color-blocked top. I love the way it incorporates two neutral colors—beige and navy—with a bright red pocket. Next, he wore a pair of ripped denim jeans, which are a favorite of mine. Especially in the spring, I find myself constantly wearing rugged denim. It really adds to the overall style of certain outfits, like this Fashionisto’s. To top it off, he wore a pair of hazelnut loafers and wide-rimmed glasses. He successfully took a rugged, hipster style and made it his own.
Don’t let the end of the semester get the best of you and how you dress. For a day of studying, try simple ways to look and feel relaxed. You could wear a pair of denim jogger pants like these rather than wearing uncomfortable denim or stiff khakis. Next, pair this simple yet fun V-neck with a zip-up sweatshirt. As for shoes, try a pair of classic Dr. Martens as a fashionable touch to the ensemble. As I always say, you can never go wrong with a pair of oversized glasses to complete a look, especially while studying. No matter which route you take, when you look good you feel good. Therefore, dress so you can feel confident when you walk through the library doors.
Hint: Don’t become so stressed that you wear your fleece pajama pants to the library. Take those few extra minutes to take care of yourself and make yourself feel good by wearing a simple, comfortable and fashionable outfit.
