I had to take it to the streets this week to discover what I consider to be impeccable street style. I acknowledge street style to not only literally be looks from finding and appreciating trends around campus, but to me it’s also an urban, artistic culture. This bad boy is sporting a masculine but considerably cool look that I think defines the allure of street style. He looks casual but still shows he takes pride in looking good. So many men in the college scene want to look macho and greatly fear appearing the least bit feminine. By doing this they sacrifice any sense of style. I have a running joke where I have to call out any male I spot wearing cargo shorts because it’s a major fashion don’t in my book. Unless you’re wearing a camouflage pair because you’re in the Army, I do not want to see college men wearing cargo shorts in public!
This bad boy masters the art of looking very masculine but still fashion-conscience. I first noticed his large shoulder tattoo peering out from underneath his fitted tank. The artwork seemed to enhance his personal style. I imagine him to be greatly influenced by graphic art by observing his ink, graphic tank and Obey propaganda hat. His backwards hat paired with classic Ray-Ban aviators brings more of that casual cool vibe to his style. I’ve noticed that snapbacks are a very popular trend around campus. They definitely are a cool accessory for younger college men to sport. Whether the hat displays a favorite team, brand, school or even a funny saying, there is a snapback that works for every situation. Another great attribute to the cap is that the style works great for a nighttime look for the university party scene. A look like this Fashionisto’s would be stylish for a summer evening concert or outdoor house party.
Hint: Notice that his shorts here are fitted and accentuate his legs rather than hanging loosely off his waist. Shorts can often be difficult for men to get just right. The length, the fabric and the fit all need to work together to pull off the summertime necessity. Resist the urge to sport the dreaded cargo short and try a tighter pair that hits right above the knee. Fitted flat-front shorts are a recent trend that I definitely encourage!
