Rainy days are the worst. I don’t know about all you Fashionistos/as, but I despise getting ready on days where the sun fails to greet me. There is just something gloomy and depressing about that dark sky that makes me want to run back to my cozy bed. The silver lining to my dark, gloomy cloud, however, is dressing in bright colors. On days like these, I usually stay away from dark colors such as gray and navy just because they make me feel down, especially when the sun is not out. It was a surprise, then, that this specific Fashionisto stopped me in my tracks up to the point where I could not walk away without taking a photo (or two).
Today’s Fashionisto did not choose to wear any bright colors; instead he casually chose to rock a gray monochromatic look. He wore dark charcoal fitted shorts paired with a light gray, striped shirt. Even though the whole look is put together by matching different shades of gray, the focus is most definitely the shirt. The solid color of the sleeves really does well with contrasting the striped torso of the shirt. I also love that this shirt has a slimmer fit because it really helps to accentuate all the right places (especially if you have been hitting the gym boys *winkwink*).
In the accessories department this Fashionisto kept it simple. He chose to wear casual greenish, gray loafers from American Eagle Outfitters and a beige knapsack which was a great contrast from the monochromatic he had going on.
Fun little detail y’all: As I was photographing this Fashionisto, I noticed a small something on his ear and it blew my mind; It was a black Superman earring (which went perfectly with his black glasses). And even though it was a tiny detail, it definitely stood out.
All in all, I really loved this Fashionisto’s casual look that was created using different shades of one neutral color. Another plus was definitely the well-fitting structure of the shirt which added to the overall appeal.
Hint: A monochromatic look is most definitely not only restricted to the color gray! Hunt through your closet for pieces that are different shades of the same color and BAM you have an outfit! However, if you are ever trying to figure out what to wear on a gloomy, rainy day I suggest pulling out the brightest shirt you have; it really makes one feel fun and fabulous!
