Big hair, big studs, lots of leather and big personalities characterized one of the most famous time periods in the American music (and fashion) industry: The Classic Rock Era. Nowadays, you will not necessarily see leather clad men in cut-off shirts and studded tanks like in the ’80s, but the style of that time is very much alive. The guitar and studs fashion spirit of three decades ago has wedged itself into the essence of current fashion and style, and has evolved into a much more classic and subtle image. The look and feel of the classic rock era can be achieved by combining new trends with classic pieces, such as this Fashionisto has done with a modern military style jacket, but sporting the classic, black Converse All Stars.
It was probably the hair, but this Fashionisto definitely caught my eye during a rainy day in Austin. While every other college student was sporting rain boots and umbrellas, scrambling to get indoors and away from the drizzle, this Fashionista stood apart from the crowd with his rock ‘n’ roll edgy style. The white, printed shirt was just the right amount of faded to pair with his gray, military style jacket. While his dark blue denim took his look to a more sophisticated level than just flat out grunge. But who could miss his classic Chucks, which reminisce of the classic rock days, where they were a go-to staple. This Fashionisto’s look was simple and effortless, however, it definitely made a statement about his personal style.
Hint: Pairing this look with a leather jacket instead of with a military style one would give this look a more over-the-top rock ‘n’ roll edge.
