Let's Hear it for the Boys

In Bloomington it’s cold and gloomy for nearly four months of the year. Getting out of bed and trekking to school is hard enough so our go-to outfit includes the staple black tracks or a huge hoodie to keep us super warm and comfortable. No one has the courage to plan their outfit, which is going to be covered with a puffy coat anyways. However this Fashionisto shows that the men of IU can add a pop of color that will be both comfortable and fashionable.

It is the first week of classes, and it is clear that this Fashionisto put effort to impress and not go unnoticed in the crowd. With this rare perfect weather in Bloomington, a jacket was not needed to cover this Fashionisto’s style. Instead of opting for a lazy sweatshirt, he opted to go for a Levi chambray button-down that made his look studious and semi-formal — perfect to make a great first impression in front of your new professors. Let’s take a deep breath and come to those amazing pink chinos. In a sea of blue jeans and black sweats, I was taken aback with the unexpected pop of color — in the best way possible! He chose these pink chinos from Standard Cloth, similar to these, to go out on a limb once in a while from his relatively conservative closet. The saying ‘Real Men Wear Pink’ kept ringing in my head, and this Fashionisto showed that only bold and confident men could pull of this look. Thanks to no snow, he was able stay away from his Timberlands and walk in his Chippewa Apache GQ. As a student, finding the most balanced bag is hard; one that is big enough to throw anything in, one that doesn’t feel too heavy or break your break and one that looks great even if not that well taken care of. This Fashionisto’s All-Son canvas rucksack finds that balance and adds a final touch to his thought out outfit.

As the cold wind freezes us over, adding a pop of color will add brightness not just to your outfit but your mood as well as the moods of others. You can’t help but smile and appreciate a bright pop of color in the sea of gloomy blacks and blues. This Fashionisto didn’t let the winter weather hamper his style and we appreciate it! Try a bright beanie or sweater and notice the smiles you spread.

Hint: In winter it becomes essential to layer and cover ourselves from the cold winds, but that does not mean we forget to style our outfit. This is the perfect combination to experiment with and mix and match different textures and patterns in the same outfit, like your loud graphic T-shirt with a stripped shirt.
