As the semester comes to an end, the cold snowy winter and final exams call for a time of stress, fear, and that constant craving for winter break. During finals week at Pitt, raccoon-eyed students gather around the library in their sweats and messy hair to study hardcore for their exams, calculate the minimum scores they can receive on their final to pass a class or to just take a “small” break to browse through Facebook. However, the funny thing we see at our campus is that we know when a student is done. Seeing those bright-eyed cheery students wearing their trendsetting winter outfits ready to go home, jealousy spills out from those who still have a few finals to go.
This rejuvenated student looked all ready to start his winter break by stepping out of the “I don’t care how I look” phase of finals week. This Fashionisto is definitely dressed to impress. He wears a navy-colored double-breasted peacoat and color-blocks with a tucked-in green scarf. Keeping his look on point and classic, he wears gray skinny slacks and brown vintage-looking burnished grungy leather boots, which create a casual element to his outfit. My favorite part about his look is his popped-out collar as it is, in my opinion, the aspect of his outfit that makes this Fashionisto stand out and look sharp.
Hint: The best part about wearing a peacoat during the winter is that it is the perfect layering piece. This Fashionisto keeps warm by probably wearing many layers inside of his coat, and buttoning it up to create a classic look that doesn’t look like there’s too much going on. However, to make a peacoat look more styled and casual, show your layers under your unbuttoned outerwear. Underneath your coat, you can wear a cable-knit sweater, a moto jacket to add some grunge or a collared shirt underneath a cardigan, but most importantly wear whatever keeps you warm. Good luck with the rest of finals!
