My favorite time of year has fallen upon our campus once again. No, it’s not my birthday or Christmas. It’s Syllabus Week! If you are not familiar with the glory of Syllabus Week, let me explain. Syllabus Week, aka the few days before school “really” starts, is when each professor goes over the expectations and curriculum of the upcoming semester…which takes about 10 minutes. These shortened classes allow students to soak up the last few stress-less moments before the eye of the class/test/homework storm takes over. And because Texas winters are more of a joke then the season three previews of Workaholics, everyone is enjoying their free time outside on campus lawns in light layers, shorts and T-shirts.
I spotted this Fashionisto mixing effortless comfort and light winter plaid to create the perfect outfit for free time out and about in between classes. I was initially drawn to this Fashionisto because of his lightweight North Face plaid shirt. The winter print is right on for the season, while the thickness is great for warm weather and could easily be paired with a sweater for those colder days. Another element to his chill look was his khaki Wrangler Jeans. This Fashionisto achieves the put-together look of khaki slacks, but the jeans allow for comfort and allow movement, great for the on the go student.
When I asked this Fashionisto his favorite accessory, I was surprised that it wasn’t his Club Master Ray-Bans, the trendy topper to his overall look, but it was his custom made belt. A needlepoint belt is a true southern stable and a great addition to any look, day or night. The craftsmanship of his custom belt alone was a conversation starter and a southern ode to his outfit. Finally his neutral gray New Balance tennis shoes, another must-have southern item, rounded out his relaxed look. Although “real” school is just around the corner, take this week to relax back into those lucky converse and enjoy the semester ahead.
Hint: Don’t let the upcoming stresses of schoolwork weigh you down! Dress in your worn relaxed pieces for comfort and add in a few new to impress your fellow students! Try grabbing a pair of colored jeans like this Fashionisto to complete your look.
