With autumn quickly approaching, fall colors are starting to saturate the runway. What do we mean by fall colors, you may ask? Oh, you know, burgundy, maroon and now, oxblood.
That’s right, folks. That wine red color actually has a name. Usually when I try to describe it to people, I tell them to visualize Harry Potter’s Gryffindor uniform before a Quidditch match. Don’t you remember the rusty red color from Rodarte’s fall 2012 ready-to-wear collection? Well, if not, now you will. Oxblood, the most coveted color of the fall season, is back and it’s here to stay.
Many Fashionistas like myself are oxblood obsessed, so when I saw this Fashionisto sporting oxblood and oxfords, I just had to snap a picture. The Fashionisto rocked this look by pairing a crisp, denim button-down shirt with oxblood colored jeans and dark maroon oxfords. However, my favorite part (besides the color) was his shoes. Oxfords, the quintessential British shoe (hence the name from gaining popularity at Oxford University), added a lot of sophistication and class to this ensemble. If you’ve ever wanted to dress up for school, oxfords are definitely the way to go. These classic shoes are a fall fashion staple and a must-have for any event. Best of all, they’re comfortable and fashionable. I mean, what more could a guy want?
Hint: If you’re loving the oxblood denim but want to mix it up, try opting for a different material like corduroy. For a more laid-back look, explore some other fall themed colors (i.e. merlot or mustard yellow) and pair some chinos with chukka boots or combat boots.
