LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS: Monochrome Spring

Let's Hear it for the Boys

Finals can be difficult, as we run across campus, frantically trying to get all of our assignments in on time. It is a stressful period of the semester when academic work becomes the biggest priority, placing looking stylish close to last. Many of us throw on sweats just to make it through the day. As nice as sweats can be, putting a little bit of effort into your outfit can pay large dividends.

This Fashionisto shows us how to remain casual and comfortable without completely abandoning all hopes of style. In order to combat the volatile spring weather, he wears a light windbreaker. These are great as they are appropriate for all weather and are a light, waterproof layer. This is stylish with monochromatic yet contrasting panels. He pairs this windbreaker with some straight legged pants. The navy color of these pants slim his silhouette and carry the color story of his outfit down to his bottom half. He breaks up this monochromatic look by pairing it with gray and red sneakers. They add a punch of color without overwhelming the whole outfit. This athletic outfit meshes a casual air with a bit of style while remaining comfortable enough for long study sessions or quick blitzes to finish off an assignment.  Next time you’re feeling pressed for time, try a more casual iteration of your normal style!

Hint: When dressing quickly or when under stress, choosing one exciting, punchy item and building the rest of the outfit around it is the best bet. Pair a bright coat or colorful shoes with neutral classic silhouettes to add a touch of personality. This strategy can take out all the guess work and stress from choosing an outfit, which can be all the difference during finals week.
