The groundhog lied to us all! Well into the month of March we are still cursed with snow. And not the good snow that you can play in or easily shovel, but the horrid slushy snow that just makes you want to stay inside. This delay of warm weather can drive all Fashionistas/os crazy. After watching spring fashion shows and the tease of sunny spring breaks, we are ready to put down the scarves and hats and bring out the cut-offs and sandals. This Fashionisto was the picture of winter to spring transition with light and versatile layering.
He began his look with a pair of navy blue corduroy pants. A great trend in men’s fashion recently has been cuffing the bottom of their pants. It’s a simple and easy trick that anyone can do to help make their look extra stylish. He then pairs a button-down striped shirt with a gray sweater. Combining basic pieces like these is a great way for guys to look pulled together. Pairing these basic pieces with the cool corduroys is the perfect way to look professional when meeting with professors or future employers. He adds a little touch of spring with a light khaki jacket. His shoes are the stand out piece in his outfit. They are a classic pair of brown oxfords that can dress up any look immensely. They are a constant trend in men’s fashion and will never go away. I think the slight pointed toe and sheen of the color can really scare guys away from rocking these to anything other than a black tie affair. But this Fashionisto shows that you can wear a pair to class and not look over the top.
Hint: Layering is the perfect way to not only look stylish but be warm as well. Investing in staple pieces that can be mixed and matched with layering can help take your wardrobe farther. Having tons of clothes isn’t always necessary, but being able to create new outfits with the wardrobe that you have is what really makes you a Fashionisto/a.
