LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS: Like An American

Let's Hear it for the Boys

Lana Del Rey isn’t the only one who has caught on to the Americana-inspired trends that seem to embody today’s fashion. From graphic T-shirts to backpacks, the American flag is seen throughout all types of fabrics and styles. Although these are obvious ways in which the American motif is incorporated into fashion trends today, there are also more subtle ways in which one can reflect their American pride, including colored denim.

This Fashionisto wears red fitted denim jeans, and matches them with a navy T-shirt that has a plaid frocket. Instead of opting with a white sweater, he sports a beige cardigan that veers his look away from appearing like a walking American flag. He then continues to incorporate the same navy into his contemporary zippered briefcase. His distressed white mock Vans also continue the Americana theme, however, note that he does not actually use any articles of clothing that have a flag. Despite this simple look, this Fashionisto’s outfit is fashion-forward and ideal for a Texan winter. While this Fashionisto could have worn a monochromatic T-shirt, the plaid pocket option adds a small pop of originality. Plaid shirts seem to be an all-time favorite at University of Texas and are sometimes a bit overused, however, this Fashionisto successfully incorporates plaid into his look in a new creative way.

Hint: Instead of wearing a pair of regularly washed indigo denim, experiment with all different colors. A pair of forest green or navy blue trousers can make the most simple outfit into a fashionable option that does not appear so simple at first glance. Colored pants can make a plain white T-shirt look not so plain.
